These Terms of Service and Membership Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of The Women in STEM Network website, membership platform, events, resources and related services.
The Women in STEM Network is owned and operated by Mums in Science Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14418391.
In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Mums in Science Ltd. “You” and “your” refer to anyone accessing or using our website, platform or services.
By creating an account, purchasing a membership or using our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the platform.
The Women in STEM Network provides professional networking, mentoring, events, training, career-development resources, member benefits and opportunities for people working, studying or interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Our services may include:
The availability of individual services depends on your membership level, location and the programmes operating at the relevant time.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the platform independently.
If you are under 18, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Paid memberships and purchases must be completed by someone who is at least 18 or by an authorised parent or guardian.
If you use the platform on behalf of an employer or another organisation, you confirm that you have authority to act on its behalf.
Some areas of the platform require an account.

Unless the relevant membership expressly permits it, accounts and membership benefits may not be shared or transferred to another person.
You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless it results from a security failure for which we are responsible.
We may offer free, monthly, annual, concessionary, supporter, organisational or other membership options.
The price, payment frequency, included benefits and any eligibility conditions will be shown on the relevant membership page or during checkout before you purchase.

Purchasing membership does not guarantee access to every event, mentor, opportunity or resource. Some activities may have limited capacity, separate eligibility requirements or an additional charge.
Prices will be displayed before you complete your purchase. Where applicable, the price will include any taxes that we are required to charge.
You authorise our payment provider to collect the amount shown at checkout using your selected payment method.
You are responsible for ensuring that your payment information is accurate and that sufficient funds are available.

We will not charge an additional fee for a failed payment unless this was clearly disclosed and is permitted by law.
If you select a recurring monthly or annual membership, the recurring nature of the payment, billing frequency and price will be shown before you purchase.
Unless you cancel it, a recurring membership will renew automatically at the end of each billing period using the payment method associated with your account.
Where required, we will provide renewal information or reminders before collecting a renewal payment.
You can cancel a recurring membership at any time through your account or by contacting us. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the period for which you have already paid, and you will retain access to the relevant benefits until that date.
Cancelling a recurring payment does not automatically create a right to a refund for a period that has already started.
If you purchase a membership online as a consumer in the United Kingdom, you will normally have a statutory 14-day cancellation period beginning on the day after the contract is made.
If you ask us to begin providing membership services during that period and then cancel, we may be entitled to charge a proportionate amount for services already provided, where permitted by law and where the necessary information and agreement were obtained during checkout.
Different rules may apply to digital content that you choose to access or download immediately. Where accessing digital content affects your cancellation rights, we will explain this and obtain any agreement required by law before access begins.
These Terms do not limit any cancellation or refund rights provided by law.
To exercise a statutory cancellation right, contact us using the details at the end of these Terms and provide sufficient information to identify your purchase.

Refunds will be provided where required by law.
Outside your statutory rights, membership fees are generally non-refundable once the relevant membership period has begun. We may consider exceptional circumstances individually, but doing so does not create an automatic right to a refund.
We may change membership prices from time to time.
A price change will not normally affect a membership period that has already been paid for. For recurring memberships, we will provide reasonable advance notice before a new price applies to a future renewal.
If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel before the renewal date.
Promotional, concessionary or introductory prices may be available for a limited period. Any relevant conditions will be explained when the offer is made.
We may update membership benefits as the Network develops.
Changes may be necessary because of:
We will not remove a substantial paid benefit without a reasonable operational, legal or commercial reason.
Where a material change significantly reduces the overall value of a paid membership during a period already purchased, we will provide reasonable notice and, where appropriate, an alternative benefit, cancellation option or proportionate refund.
Registration may be required for events, mentoring activities, Connect sessions, training programmes and other limited-capacity services.
A membership does not guarantee a place at every event or programme.

We may change an event’s speaker, timing, format or delivery method where reasonably necessary. If a paid event is cancelled, the applicable event terms will explain your refund or alternative options.
Mentoring provided through the Network is intended to support professional reflection, development and decision-making.
We do not guarantee:
Mentors and mentees act in their own personal capacity unless expressly stated otherwise. They are not employees, agents or professional advisers of Mums in Science Ltd.
Mentoring must not be used to provide medical, legal, financial, immigration or other regulated professional advice.
Either participant may end a mentoring relationship. Concerns about conduct should be reported to the members’ team.
If you choose to appear in a member or mentoring directory, information identified during the profile process may be visible to other authorised users.
You are responsible for selecting the information you choose to display and for keeping it accurate.
Information obtained through a member directory must not be used to:
Access to member information is provided for genuine networking, mentoring and professional collaboration.
You must use the platform lawfully and respectfully.
You must not:
Members may hold different opinions, but disagreement must remain professional. Freedom to hold a view does not permit harassment, discrimination or conduct that undermines the safety and dignity of others.
You retain ownership of content that you submit.
When you submit content for publication or display within the platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce and display it as reasonably necessary to provide, moderate and operate the relevant service.
This permission ends when the content is deleted, except where:
We will not use identifiable member content in external promotional materials without separate permission.
You confirm that you own or have permission to use the content you submit and that it does not infringe another person’s rights.
We may remove content that breaches these Terms or creates a reasonable legal, security or safeguarding concern.
The platform and its content, including written materials, worksheets, training resources, videos, graphics, branding and downloadable resources, are owned by or licensed to Mums in Science Ltd.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to access membership content for your own professional development or internal business use.
Unless a resource says otherwise, you must not:

Some benefits, discounts and opportunities are provided by independent third parties.
The inclusion of an offer does not necessarily mean that we endorse every aspect of the third party’s products or services.
